The Red Hat Society - They’re hard to miss – these middle-aged women sporting riotous red hats. Who are they? Members of “The Red Hat Society,” a tongue-in-cheek social club for women over 50. New Florida visits several of the Society’s 10,000 chapters to find out what keeps these women laughing.

Prince of Palms - On Palm Sunday, Catholic churches around the country showcase a piece of the Sunshine State – its palm fronds. New Florida travels to Mims, Florida to visit a father-and-son team who earn their living harvesting these palms for the holy day that falls a week before Easter.

Becca’s Closet - Sixteen-year old Floridian Rebecca Kirtman knew that high school prom could be a real let-down for girls who couldn’t afford the hundreds of dollars it takes to buy the perfect gown. So, with the help of her friends, she collected over 250 second-hand prom dresses to donate to needy teens. New Florida visits “Becca’s Closet,” the organization Rebecca created before her untimely death in 2003.

Medical Artist - Valerie Weiss, M.D. decided to merge her love of medicine with her love of art. The result? Biomedical art. New Florida examines this unusual art form and learns how it’s used in medical offices and courtrooms alike.
