- New Florida takes
a look at a laughter therapist, who hopes to advance the
use of laughter as a tonic for both mind and body.
The Conch Republic
- New Florida travels
to Key West, the original "Conch Republic," which
has more than one odd claim to fame. The noisiest, though,
is surely its annual conch shell blowing contest, where each
year, hopeful "horn" blowers of all ages compete
in this noisy "conch honk" on the city's Sunset
Pier. Musical ability is not a requirement, though some of
the more skilled entrants DO manage to squeak out a recognizable
tune.

and the Broward Center of Performing Arts the students recently
had a first hand lesson in the rhythms of Brazil.
Key Deer Resurgence
- A half century ago, Florida's
Key Deer population was on the verge of extinction. But the
establishment of a Key
Deer Refuge in 1957 signaled the beginning of a remarkable
resurgence in the deer's numbers. In fact, there are now
so many of the diminutive deer roaming Big Pine and No Name
Keys, that some residents think they're a nuisance. New
Florida takes a look.
Young Inventors

students at St. Andrews School in Boca Raton who are vying
for a patent award in a school wide contest for the best
